Man Allegedly Committed 19 Criminal Offenses in 2 Years

A 29-year-old man is appearing before the Karlsruhe District Court for 19 criminal offenses he allegedly committed over the past two years. The indictment includes hit-and-run incidents, illegal street races, assault, and theft. The defendant, who has multiple prior convictions and is currently serving a prison sentence, is accused of repeatedly driving vehicles without a license, causing accidents, and fleeing the scene.

Two incidents are particularly serious: an illegal street race in January 2023, during which he collided with other vehicles multiple times, and a police chase where he reached speeds of up to 150 km/h and endangered an officer. He is also accused of assault, including punching accident victims and police officers. Video recordings substantiate several of the offenses.

The court has scheduled five hearing dates but expects the proceedings to conclude sooner. Another criminal case against the defendant is ongoing concurrently at the Regional Court.
